Biography

Abhishek G Bhaya is a journalist with over two decades of professional experience in print, digital and broadcast media. During this professional journey, Mr Bhaya has worked with many reputed news organizations in the Middle East, India and China including The Times of India, Channel 7, Gulf News, Khaleej Times and Muscat Daily. He is currently the International Editor at CGTN Digital, Beijing, where he manages the World news section and routinely writes on geopolitical and international affairs, with a particular focus on Middle East, South Asia and Asia Pacific regions. Mr Bhaya also serves as the Editor of the London-based MJR Group, a niche firm with its core focus on the business side of global sports venues and performing art centres. Prior to joining CGTN, Mr Bhaya served as the Deputy International Editor of Muscat Daily, the leading English newspaper in Oman, where he covered international news developments, particularly in the Middle East. He closely followed the negotiations that led to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, besides guiding coverage on Syria Civil War and the ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings. Throughout his career, Mr Bhaya has conducted numerous interviews of top ministers, diplomats, Nobel laureates, international scientists and corporate heads. He was the official nominee of The Times of India for the first ever CNN Young Journalist Award – India (Print) in 2003. Also in 2003, The British Council in India awarded him with a special grant for news coverage of academic institutions in the UK. Mr Bhaya was a media fellow for the 6th Middle East Journalists’ Programme in Singapore in 2012. He was also a fellow for the 2016 Middle East Study Trip to Taiwan. He has done BA Honours in English Literature from Delhi University and has a Certificate in Film Appreciation from National Film Archive of India.
