Adolphus Arebanmhen Aletor is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer at Rigo Microfinance Bank Limited, a bank he founded in May 2018. Adolphus was born on March 23rd, 1973 to the Aletor family of Idumhuneka Igueben LGA, Edo state. He grew up in Ubiaja, Esan South East LGA under the love, affection and tutelage of his maternal great-grand mother, Mama Atepele Arumehen Edaghese who played a pivotal part in his upbringing and development. To show his deep love and appreciation to his great-grand mother and Ubiaja as a whole, he instituted a non-governmental organization (NGO) to support the indigent students in the community. Over the years, he led an outstanding academic path and built a successful career in corporate Nigeria. He started his education journey by attending Central Primary School, Ubiaja before proceeding to St, John Bosco’s college, Ubiaja for his secondary school education. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) graduating with Distinction in Accountancy from Auchi Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State Nigeria where he was a student leader and President of the National Association of Professional Accounting students, Auchi Polytechnic chapter; NAPAS was where the seed for a greater political engagement to drive the progressive development within his immediate social economic environment was sown. Adolphus also holds MBA (Management) from Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in November 1999. He is also a Certified Microfinance expert, a certification governed by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. An avid learner, he is an alumnus of the prestigious New York University (NYU) Stern Executive Education where he attended the Breakthrough Strategic Thinking course. He is also an alumnus of Columbia University Graduate Business School, New York where he attended the Leadership Essentials Executive Education program. Furthermore, he has successfully completed courses on Leadership at the Lagos Business School (LBS) and Credit/International Banking at SBI Academy, India. Prior to starting RIGO MFB, Adolphus was an award winning and highly celebrated Executive with Sterling Bank Plc where he held several roles including Group Head, New Business. He was responsible for the identification, incubation, and development of businesses in the Education and Health sectors, with a view to developing the skill sets and apply a knowledge-based approach to the business owners in these sectors. On this role, he achieved outstanding results; one notable achievement in the education business sector was when he led other participating banks in the delivery of the AfDB syndicated lending to a leading university in Nigeria thereby positively impacting the brand and growth of the respective institution. Based on his successes, he had a brief stint as the Chief Strategist of the Bank as relief to the incumbent overseeing Corporate Strategy, Investor Relations, Research&Development. Other roles he held while at Sterling Bank Plc include - Regional Business Head (RBH), Commercial & Institutional Banking in South-South operating from Port Harcourt; Business Manager, Port Harcourt main branch. Adolphus started his banking career with UBA Plc in 1999 with Branch Operations and steadily rose to be Head of Operations when he joined NNB International Bank Plc. He also held various sales roles with First Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc and Universal Trust Bank Plc respectively. Subsequently, he joined Equatorial Trust Bank Ltd. which eventually merged with Sterling Bank Plc. Passionate about the development of his community, Adolphus has been involved in several philanthropic activities across the country. Notable projects include - Keep Port Harcourt clean, Keep Lagos Island Clean, Keep Ibeju-Lekki Clean, Free Health services for women of Ibeju-Lekki, Payment of Salaries of Teachers at St. John Boscos College, Ubiaja. Through the Atupele Arumehen Edaghese Foundation, he has sponsored several indigent students by delivering WAEC scholarships to 50 (Fifty) students in Esan Southeast LGA, payment of penalty fees to WAEC for Illushi secondary school to enable their students write the WAEC exams. He has also supported several orphanages and correctional centers with particular attention to the renovation of Nigeria Prisons worship center in Buguma, Rivers state as well as support for prisoners in other prisons across the country. Adolphus, being a financial analyst is a columnist with The Guardian Newspaper and Business AM Newspaper where provides financial literacy and business growth strategies through his weekly columns. Happily married for over 21 years and blessed with 3 children, he believes that all power belongs to God and that all gifts are freely given and should be used for the promotion of humanity.
