The Xylom

The Xylom is a nonprofit newsroom based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 2018. It is the only Asian American-run news outlet dedicated to science, climate, and environmental coverage, specifically serving the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Operated by Gen-Z immigrants, The Xylom focuses on enhancing science communication through storytelling and journalism. The organization produces a variety of original content, including personal essays and longform science features, as well as resources for early-career science professionals. It also publishes a twice-monthly newsletter that curates notable science stories from the American South and beyond, aiming to amplify underrepresented voices in science journalism. The Xylom connects the AAPI community with science, highlighting their experiences and contributions to the field.
