Biography

Allison Walker is from Buffalo, NY. In high school, she became interested in news and current events, where she started a social media initiative to raise awareness about international human rights violations. As a high school student, she interned at the Academy for Human Rights and was a guest on two BBC World Service "Over to You" radio broadcasts. She moved to Boston, MA, in 2016 to study journalism at Emerson College. As a student journalist, she covered stories about racism, immigration, and domestic violence in the greater Boston area. In 2018 Walker was a broadcast news intern at WKBW in Buffalo, NY, and was mentored by investigative reporters. Walker then went on to tackle investigative reports in the greater Boston area, including the mistreatment of immigrant hotel workers and the issue of undocumented victims of domestic violence being targeted by ICE agents. In the summer of 2019, Walker was chosen to participate in the prestigious transatlantic RIAS Berlin Fellowship program. She contributed to 50+ meetings with notable German journalists, political leaders, think tanks, climate experts, and historians. After completing the fellowship, Walker shadowed BBC Reith Award-winning broadcaster Lamine Konkobo at BBC's headquarters in the United Kingdom. In the fall of 2019, Walker was chosen as a CBS Women in Media Fellow and was acknowledged for her contributions to the industry at the Gracies Leadership Awards in NYC. Walker also attended the 90th Academy Awards Weekend and the 2020 Iowa Democratic presidential caucus on behalf of Emerson College. In October 2020, Walker became a broadcast news reporter for ABC22 and FOX45 in Dayton, Ohio. In this role, Walker singlehandedly produced and executed exclusive watchdog reports regarding various issues, such as housing & homelessness, gun violence, disability rights, lgbtq+ rights, civil rights, politics, racial health disparities, child welfare, the opioid epidemic, and controversial legislation garnering national attention. Walker has been praised for her exclusive nationally syndicated investigative human sex trafficking series. Walker elevated survivor voices in the series and regularly interviewed public officials, such as the Ohio Attorney General, about implementing victim-informed policies. Walker's coverage explored many aspects of trafficking, such as at-risk children trafficked out of Ohio's foster care system, how loopholes in social media laws fuel the crisis, and the plight of undocumented victims trafficked through illicit massage parlors. Results of coverage include exposing that some line-level officers were incarcerating victims of trafficking despite statewide reforms. In addition, coverage revealed that some Ohio courts failed to honor Ohio's decades-old Safe Harbor Act, which expanded legal protections to minor victims of trafficking. Walker is known for breaking stories about human rights violations and hate crimes. She was the first reporter in Dayton to work with the Springfield NAACP to expose KKK recruitment in 2022. Walker also exclusively interviewed victims of local hate crimes in the AAPI community during the pandemic. She's also known for her exclusive disability rights series with the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities. One of Walker's interviews was featured in a CNN report" "A suspect in the shooting deaths of 4 people in Ohio was captured in Kansas" In October 2022, Walker announced her departure from Dayton 24/7 Now and moved to Los Angeles, stepping into a role as a Media Advocacy Specialist at the Public Health Alliance of Southern California, a nonprofit focused on health equity, including Black maternal health and environmental justice. During her time there, she increased video engagement by 1111%, producing the organization’s top-performing videos, including one showcased at the 2023 American Public Health Association Annual Conference, where it reached an audience of over 12,000 public health leaders. She also developed strategic press releases, securing prominent coverage in major outlets, including the Los Angeles Times. Her contributions extended to ghostwriting and editing high-impact content, including an Op-ed on maternal health disparities featured in CalMatters, which influenced key policy discussions. After her role at the Public Health Alliance, she transitioned into freelance media and digital content creation, contributing as a freelance host for Really American Media, a YouTube channel with over 400K subscribers, covering political news and current events. She also creates high-impact, trending stories for Pleroma Media, driving significant audience engagement across digital platforms. In February 2025 alone, her work generated 1.52 million page views, with 1.3 million unique visitors. Her content consistently ranks among top-performing, viral stories, and she maintains a high-volume production output to maximize audience reach.
