Biography
Amanda Hirsch is on a mission to fill the world with women's stories. She does this as a writer and through her company, Mighty Forces, which helps individual women leaders and women's organizations to tell their stories online and beyond. Previously Amanda was a content strategy consultant to nonprofit organizations including NPR, TED and the George Lucas Educational Foundation. Before that she was the editorial director of PBS.org. As a writer Amanda creates TV scripts, personal essays and articles, all of which amplify women's stories (including her own), as well as the need for these narratives. She was selected as a finalist in the Sundance Institute's 2020 Episodic Lab for her script, "Yes, Andrea." She is also the author of "Feeling My Way, Finding Motherhood Without Losing Myself." Amanda has given talks about how to tell your story online at venues ranging from Harvard's Kennedy School to the National Film Board of Canada. She has a background in improv comedy, which infuses her approach to life and work, and she and her husband occasionally lead improv workshops for organizations — a side gig that started after they led a few improv sessions at SXSW Interactive, and were voted audience favorites. Amanda graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in English. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and daughter, a force of nature who gives her hope for the future.
