Ann Marie Adams is an award-winning investigative journalist and historian. A Pulitzer Prize Winner, she has worked for The New York Times, NBC4 New York, The Hartford Courant, People Magazine, The Washington Post, The Root, The RootDC, Ebony, FOX News, News 12 Connecticut, and Education Daily. She was a rock star journalist since she was editor in chief at The Kingsman in Brooklyn, New York. Adams is also a U.S. History Professor. She obtained her Ph.D. in American History/African Diaspora with distinction from Howard University. She is currently writing her first book about school segregation and the academic achievement gap in America. The book is based on her dissertation, which is the first to chronicle the full arc of the African-American experience in Connecticut from the colonial period to the twentieth century. It mainly centers on the Sheff v. O'Neill school desegregation case in Connecticut. Adams has also worked for or collaborated with the World Bank, the United Nations Environmental Program in Washington, D.C., the National Press Club, The New York Times, the United Nations' Headquarters, Howard University, the Organization of American States, the United Nations as a delegate in New York and several embassies in Washington, D.C. as a media consultant. Adams is the first journalist to have coined the term "Caribbean-American Journalists." She is also the founder of Caribbean-American Heritage Month in 1992 and Native American Heritage Month in 2005. She won a Pulitzer Prize in 2001 as the lead journalist in a Hartford Courant staff report about a breaking news story regarding a shooting rampage in Manchester, CT.
