Company Info

IndigiNews

IndigiNews is an Indigenous-led online journalism publication that serves First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. Launched on May 5, 2020, it is a collaboration between Discourse Community Publishing and APTN. IndigiNews focuses on delivering local news that reflects the perspectives and needs of Indigenous communities, particularly in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley and Vancouver Island. The platform aims to provide respectful and accurate reporting, countering historical misrepresentation of Indigenous peoples in mainstream media. As of January 1, 2025, IndigiNews operates under a non-profit organization called tâpwêwin media, which is dedicated to ensuring Indigenous leadership and sustainability in journalism. The leadership team includes CEO Eden Fineday and editorial director Cara McKenna, supported by a board of influential Indigenous journalists.
