Publisher of La Prensa San Diego since 2015. Winner of the Ruben Salazar Award for Excellence in Journalism. Mr. Castañares has more than 30 years of governmental and business experience. Prior to becoming a journalist, Castañares served for 13 years as staff for the California State Legislature, and also provided political and marketing consulting to clients throughout California. Castañares has served on boards of non-profit organizations including Borderview YMCA, the New Americans Museum, AYSO Region 116, and the Tariq Khamisa Foundation. Castañares is an FAA-licensed airplane pilot and enjoys sharing his passion for aviation with family and friends.
