The Daily Free Press is the independent student-run newspaper of Boston University, established on May 5, 1970. It operates under Back Bay Publishing Co., Inc., a nonprofit organization, and is the longest-running continuous publication at BU. The newspaper features a digital-first format, publishing online articles Monday through Friday, and offers a monthly print broadsheet edition during the academic year. With a circulation of approximately 3,000 print copies distributed at over 50 locations on Boston University's Charles River Campus, The Daily Free Press serves the university community, including students, faculty, and staff. The publication is led by student editors, with roles rotating each semester, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of alumni and current students. It also provides valuable training in journalism, photography, design, and business operations for students, emphasizing journalistic independence and skill development.
