Company Info

Idyllwild Town Crier

The Town Crier has been serving Idyllwild-area residents with quality news since 1946, when Ernie and Betty Maxwell established the newspaper. We were the first California weekly to go online in 1995 and have been publishing on the web since. We are the best, and often the only, source for breaking news, government coverage and arts and entertainment news for our mountain community. We serve a small, close-knit community with regards to vital information, but also provide visitor information for the many tourists who come to our scenic mountains every day. Idyllwild is unique, in that it has four seasons and feels distant from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding metropolises, such as Los Angeles and San Diego. We are located about a mile high and an hour from Palm Springs and Riverside. We're a two hour drive from San Diego and about three hours from Los Angeles. In addition to the weekly newspaper and daily online news site, we publish a regular visitor-oriented magazine. We also partner with local organizations to publish the official programs for Idyllwild's main events, such as Jazz in the Pines and the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema.
