Biography

An NCTJ Gold Standard journalist with a first-class degree from the University of Brighton, my sports reporting career began a couple of years before I stepped foot into the newsroom. As a former elite gymnast, I would submit reports for my school newsletter about my competition results before taking a year out in between A-Levels and university, during which I prioritised my training and was selected to compete for Great Britain at the 2016 European Championships. Thanks to my connections in the gymnastics community and my deep-rooted love and knowledge of the sport, I achieved a first-class grade for my university dissertation on the perception of gymnastics as a feminine sport - a 5,000 word critical investigation exploring historical and modern themes and how the sport has evolved to the point where male gymnasts are respected rather than ridiculed. Over the course of three years at Brighton, I honed skills such as match reporting, news writing, interviewing and shorthand at Teeline 100WPM, all while becoming familiar with the IPSO Code and adhering to the essential laws for journalists. As a senior reporter for Sports Mole, my responsibilities have varied from sourcing and writing articles on bona-fide football news, transfer speculation, previews, features and live commentaries to covering an array of other sports and sub-editing the work of junior reporters.
