Birat Bijay Ojha (he/they) is a writer, artist and independent journalist from Itahari, Nepal, passionate about critiquing dominant culture through queer, feminist, and decolonial lens. Over the years, they have been a part of multiple queer, education, and arts initiatives, including founding Queering The Bond, a networking initiative for Nepali queer individuals. Birat’s achievements include third place in the 2023 UNESCO Nepal Poetry Competition and selection as one of ten South Asian Queer Writers in The Queer Muslim Project’s Queer Writers Room 2024 cohort. His poem was featured in Songs of Revolution in 2022, an anthology of Nepali queer poets, and writing has appeared in The Kathmandu Post, Onlinekhabar, Feminism in India, and Gaysi Family. He represented British Council Nepal at the Outburst Queer Arts Festival in Belfast in 2023. A pop culture fan, Birat is fond of photography and travelling. They want to continue creating literature and arts that embody a radical refusal of the status quo.
