Biography

Washington-based journalist who has worked in some of the country's best newsrooms. Currently a reporter for the Boston Globe in the nation's capital. I'v covered most everything there is to cover. At the Sacramento Bee, I covered health care, did a stint on the copy desk, and covered the Iraq war for McClatchy Newspapers in 2007. I grew up on a dairy farm, located on the southeastern flanks of the majestic Koolau Mountains. I attended high school in Honolulu, then jetted to New York City to attend my first of college at NYU. I finished my education at the University of California, Berkeley, and am a long-suffereing fan of the Golden Bears. I'm a former fellow of the International Center for Journalists, which gave me an opportunity to do reporting on the millions of unexploded US bombs scattered throughout Laos. About 300 Laotians, mostly children, die or are seriously injured by the bombs each year. Visit my online portfolio.
