Breanna N. Cooper is an Indianapolis-based reporter and staff writer for the Indianapolis Recorder, the nation's fourth-oldest Black newspaper. At the Recorder, she covers myriad topics including government, religion, crime and education. From the COVID-19 pandemic to the ongoing racial justice protests, Cooper is out on the front lines bringing important stories to the community. Throughout her career, she's worked as a fact checker and contributor for Indianapolis Monthly magazine and as an Arts Journalism Fellow for NUVO. Her stories have ranged from an in-depth interview with Gov. Eric Holcomb about racial disparities to an interview with the great-great grandson of America's first serial killer. As a college student at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, Cooper served as editor-in-chief of the school's publication, The Campus Citizen, and was elected Vice President of Online Journalism for the Indiana Collegiate Press Association.
