Biography

Brian Ongoro, is a photojournalist based in Kisumu, Kenya majoring in documentary, editorial and commercial photography. Brian has worked throughout East Africa in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan where for over five years he documented stories of impact and change. Brian aims to use his photography to capture stories that might be overlooked. Brian Ongoro’s work has appeared in multiple publications including The New York Times, The BBC, CNN, The Washington Post, Bloomberg and The Guardian. He has also worked for multiple international organizations and NGO's throughout the region including Blue Cross, Self-Help Africa among others. While consulting for expert storytelling agency Arete Stories, Brian has done work for UNICEF, World Vision, Chance for Childhood and Tearfund Canada. He has also been a guest speaker on Photojournalism Nights which is an event by Photojournalism Hub that promotes committed and courageous photojournalism and engages the public to social justice and human rights.
