Whether pen or keyboard, my purpose is to write with passion and purpose. With that passion will come well thought out perspective with facts to stand strong on. If you felt the words I delivered, I've won. I take the craft of writing seriously and want to make a full time career out of it. Since I covered the main idea of why I'm here, let's talk about me. I'm Cam. Now going socially as "Camp From The Port". Camp is a nickname I was given at birth. The Port is the nickname for my hometown, Freeport, Illinois. I'm still kicking myself for not taking Professor Henderson's suggestion to quit DeVry and pursue a Journalism degree. He suggested that after my piece I wrote on Stevie Wonder for what I believe was our Creative Writing class. Trying to see money over happiness didn't win for me and no matter how much I tried to abandon writing for "making real money" I failed. During that period of "failure" I worked retail and transportation. All of which definitely didn't make me as happy as writing. After being fed up with that, I went back to school for Radio and TV broadcasting. That lead to me working terrestrial radio for 6 years as an Online Content Editor. During that time I got to write for outlets like New York Based outlet The Urban Daily and Chicago based outlets, Ruby Hornet, Chicago Music and V.O.Y.D. I also created my own hip-hop editorial outlet, BehindTheRhyme.com. All this while contributing written, audio and video content for the Radio One Indianapolis cluster. Present day, I am still hungry to create and live in my true purpose as a writer. I'm also back working transportation along with being a part-time seasonal employee at Live Nation. I'm not "happy", but I'm not complaining. I've been further down and far worse than this, so I'm very blessed to be here in this mindset right now. I made my way back to the world of writing through my blog "livingascamquotes.com". There you will find thoughts, feelings, emotions, think pieces and poetry. Can't forget the outstanding quotes! The site domain doesn't make sense without them. After getting into that groove, I put out my first self-published book, "Living In A Beautiful Disaster". Still available on Amazon if you got time to read some art filled joy and pain. I'm working on another book right now. Don't want to unveil the title until it's complete and ready to release. I'm not sure if you'll call it a "Romance Novel" or a "Lust Book" but I do hope you enjoy the story that is told no matter what. No writer is perfect, so lets get to my pet peeve. That is being censored or policed on content. I don't want to sacrifice truth in my writing. I think respectable journalism comes with good, bad and honest critique. No one should be above that. There's no need to viciously slander, swear and be classless, but I want to feel good in my spirit about the fair and factual words I deliver no matter what the topic. My final request is don't limit your pitches due to my writing experiences. As a husband, father, former rapper and "band nerd" who still has his saxophone, I have a lot more to offer than hip-hop and wrestling content. Which reminds me I need to find the "Daddy Blog" content I was doing for an upstart parenting blog about 8 years ago. I've also totaled my only source of transportation, had a former Mayor of Freeport call me a success story and I've met Mike Tyson! Trust me. I have a lot to say about more than what is displayed.
