Women's Media Center

The Women's Media Center (WMC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 by activists Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem. Led by President Julie Burton, WMC advocates for gender and racial equity in media representation. The organization aims to amplify women's voices and ensure their stories are told equally alongside men's. WMC employs various strategies, including original content creation, media training, and advocacy campaigns. It publishes progressive perspectives through platforms like WMC News and Features, WMC Fbomb for teen feminism, and WMC Women Under Siege, which documents sexualized violence in conflict zones. The organization also offers media training programs for women and maintains WMC SheSource, a database connecting journalists with women experts. Additionally, WMC produces reports on women's media representation and hosts the Women's Media Awards to honor leaders in advancing women's visibility.
