Biography
OK, so here's my Twitter profile: Talk show host, radio and print journalist, editor, speaker, moderator, single mom to amazing twin daughters. Wants enough time to learn EVERYTHING! She/Her. Queer. Out of college, I started a newspaper for the theatre and film industries in Chicago. It ran for 20 years and was known as the bible for folks who worked in those industries. Alas, Facebook came along and even I found it easier. So then I moved to radio hosting. Actually, a door opened to NPR radio hosting in 2007, when I made it into the top 10 of the Public Radio Talent Quest. I love hosting. I love talking to people. I'm good at bringing out things they didn't know they wanted to talk about. And I'm good at holding people accountable if they need it. One of the things I struggle with is that there are journalism organizations that don't want to hold the powerful accountable. I started a SubStack called You're Overthinking It, to explore that very issue - why journalism organizations don't hold the powerful accountable. And how people who don't tow the party line are actually punished - with help from journalists. In 2023, I was nominated for a S.I. Newhouse Award for one of my Substack pieces. I was the only nominee who hadn't written for a national publication. I write an occasional column for the Nevada Current - mostly about how dysfunctional the local school district is. I produce a weekly talk show on KUNV Radio in Las Vegas. And I am the executive producer of American Dreams: Reproductive Justice - a podcast that also airs on KUNV about reproductive justice in the U.S. I also find myself talking about leadership - what it looks like, what the point is. I am not a "do it because I say so" person. That's not leadership. That's control. Anyway, this is who I am. A damn good writer and radio and live event host trying to be less disillusioned. My hometown is Vegas. I came back for family reasons. It's a great place during months that don't include the words May, June, July, August or September. During those months, it's a hellscape of three figure temperatures. The following portfolio is a smattering of what I have done.
