Celia Wexler is an award-winning journalist and nonfiction author. Wexler’s first book, Out of the News: Former Journalists Discuss a Profession in Crisis (McFarland, 2012) won a national award for excellence from the Society of Professional Journalists. Her second book, Catholic Women Confront Their Church: Stories of Hurt and Hope, (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016) has earned excellent reviews from the National Catholic Reporter, and Publishers Weekly. The book also was a Forward INDIES finalist for Book of the Year. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, Salon, Columbia Journalism Review, Fodors Travel, The Nation, NBC THINK, CNN Opinion, the New York Daily News, and U.S. News and World Report. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Toronto, where she earned the prestigious Governor-General’s Medal in English Literature. She earned a graduate degree in journalism from Point Park University, Pittsburgh. Her work in 2019 and 2018 earned her awards from the Society of Professional Journalism DC Chapter.
