Biography
Christian Chua tells stories at the intersection of the environment, infrastructure and data. In 2024, his team won third prize at the Philippine Journalism Research Conference for a documentary on the impact of the Bulacan Aerotropolis on surrounding farmlands. Their investigative report on Villar-owned water concessionaire PrimeWater was also named a finalist in the same conference. He later joined the Earth Journalism Network’s Media Action for Sustainable Infrastructure in the Philippines, where his team produced both a documentary and an in-depth report on reclamation projects in Bacoor, Cavite. Christian also served as the 46th editor-in-chief of Tinig ng Plaridel, the official student publication of the UP College of Media and Communication. He led the newsroom’s fact-checking initiative during the 2025 midterm elections and helped launch its data and investigative reporting arm. Prior to joining TNP, he also contributed to the Philippine Collegian, covering human rights, economy and the university. His work in campus publications, shaped by lessons from Maskom, inspires his pursuit of becoming a data and multimedia journalist—one who sees data not merely as numbers, but as fragments of human experience and struggle, waiting to be told.
