Biography

Christopher Nelson is an award-winning journalist for News Nation based in Chicago. He joined the network as Weekend Managing Editor before being promoted to Director of Talent Relations & Recruitment. Previously he was a Coordinating Producer for MSNBC where he managed planning and logistics for the network's live weekend programming. He was also a Senior Editor and Assignmment Editor manning the NBC News national desk overnight for nearly five years supporting all of NBC News and MSNBC. A native of Baltimore, he earned an undergraduate degree in communications from Loyola University Maryland and a master’s degree in law from the Georgetown University Law Center. In 2016 he was named one of Rolling Out magazine's "40 Powerful Black Media Stars." Nelson has been awarded two national Emmy Awards. He began his career as a broadcast apprentice at WJZ-TV, the CBS owned television station in Baltimore. Additionally he is an adjunct professor at New York's Mercy College.
