Biography
Craig Turpin is the founder of Rising Sun Photog, a media and consulting company based in Aspen, Colorado. Before trading in New York City life for the high country in 2012, Craig was behind the lens of a video camera as a producer, editor, and director for the likes of PBS, NBC Universal, Plum TV and CBS Sports. He has kept his feet in the entertainment world as an Associate Programmer for Aspen Film’s 25th Shortsfest in 2016 and consults on various independent projects. Craig is on the masthead at the Aspen Daily News as Chief Photographer, with additional editorial work appearing in Aspen Sojourner, Denver Living, Aspen Mag, Aspen Times Weekly, and The Denver Post. Most recently, Craig has expanded his portfolio to include commercial clients and fine art collectors of his custom eye-popping prints. He is also an experienced photography guide, taking guests on bespoke adventures with expert photography equipment instruction. With a childhood spent on Misawa Air Base in northern Japan, Craig finds creative influence from his 15 years spent in the “Land of the Rising Sun” and speaks nearly fluent Japanese. When his camera is not in hand, Craig can often be found cruising town with his sidekick Gittel the Goldendoodle, hunting for vintage treasures, hiking, snowboarding, and at home cooking.
