Biography

David Gibson is an award-winning religion journalist, author, filmmaker, and a convert to Catholicism. He came by all those vocations by accident, or Providence, during a longer-than-expected sojourn in Rome in the 1980s. It was there that he got his start in journalism, working first for an English-language daily and then for the English Program at Vatican Radio – run by the Jesuits, who now sort of run the whole church, thanks to the election of Pope Francis. Gibson returned to the United States in 1990, worked for newspapers in the New York area, wrote for various magazines, and co-wrote and co-produced several documentaries for CNN and the History Channel. He is also an author of two books on the Catholic Church, and a new 2015 joint effort on biblical archeology, “Finding Jesus: Faith. Fact. Forgery,” that is the basis of a CNN series of the same name.
