Biography

Deb Radcliff is an author, speaker, editor and analyst with extensive background in cybersecurity and cybercrime writing. In 1996, after researching a best-selling book about computer hacker Kevin Mitnick, she decided to make cybercrime a beat. As a pioneering cybercrime journalist, she built relationships with cyberagents and leaders at the FBI, DoD, the Secret Service, CIA, NYPD and many other local and federal agencies that were creating and growing their cyber units. Her articles are cited in numerous research papers and college textbooks. She spoke at West Point, won two Neal Awards for investigative business reporting and was runner up for a third. In 2005, Radcliff stood up a new Analyst Program for the SANS Institute. For 15 years, she led content and webcast development while also growing the program’s revenues. Deb is now writing a cyber thriller series in which a fictional company called GlobeCom takes over the world through human chip implants and hackers rise up against it. Book one, "Breaking Backbones: Information is Power," is available at Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Breaking-Backbones-Information-Hacker-Trilogy/dp/1665701080/) and all other book outlets. Her second book, "Information Should be Free," publishes in late spring of 2022. Her third book, "Out of Chaos Comes Order," is currently being penned. In addition to her books, Deb also runs her own analyst firm, DeRad Cybersecurity Publishing, and her blog, OnlineCrimeBytes. For her client GrammaTech, she is running Shift Left Academy's DevSecOps focused educational content. (https://shiftleft.grammatech.com) Ultimately, Deb feels that her biggest contribution has been raising awareness to current and future cyber risks and helping businesses and individuals prepare for what's coming next. She has strong relationships with C-level security professionals and hands-on experts who help her understand the crushing problems they face in their quests and she continues to write to and educate that audience. And through her cyber thriller series and her OnelineCrimebytes blog, she also helps educate the average Joe about how to stay safe online.
