Derrick Silimina is a multi-media award-winning Journalist based in Lusaka Zambia. He is a shrewd Journalist with a passion to write about investigative stories, social justice, religion, economics, business and environment among others. His various media awards and articles have featured in many media platforms locally and abroad thereby boosting a positive outlook on his Journalism career through the public interest the stories have engendered in many nations. Derrick holds a Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations from the Zambia Institute of Mass communications (ZAMCOM). As a seasoned writer, Derrick is former Editor of Agricoop Newspaper – one of the leading tabloids in Zambia. He has been instrumental in the country’s media industry and continues to be an advocate of media freedom. Derrick is currently an Executive Writer for Solwezi Today Magazine and This is Zambia Magazine – one of the top business and Investment Magazines in the country. Among other awards he has won thus far include; 1. The Best Radio Journalist for the prestigious 2015 Airtel Media Excellency Awards. 2. Runners-up for the 2016 Zambia National Education Coalition (ZANEC) Media Awards. 3. Best Radio Journalist for the 2016 Rural Electrification Authority (REA) Media Awards and 4. Best Print Journalist – Features category for the 2018 Agriculture and Commercial Society of Zambia (ACSZ) Media Awards.
