Biography

Happiness is not an elusive dream of a distant future depending on the sacrifices we make today. We are endowed with the ability to be happy right here and now. My new book dismantles specific thought patterns that education fosters so that we can find happiness in and beyond the law, not tomorrow, but today. Desiree Jaeger-Fine was founder and principal of Jaeger-Fine Consulting, a consultancy for international attorneys who seek to work in the United States. Desiree sold her first company, a professional online network for international law students, only two years after its launch. She is a member of the New York bar and has authored over 120 articles and three books about professional development and the U.S. Master of Laws degree. Her recent book A Short & Happy Guide to Being Hired was published by West Academic. Desiree was ranked in the top 5% of Amazon's Business & Money Authors. She frequently lectures across the U.S. and around the world, including in Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Mexico, and Spain. Desiree holds law degrees from both the University of Bonn (Germany) and Fordham Law School in New York from which she graduated cum laude with a master degree in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law. Desiree served as Chair of the New York City Bar Association's Law Student Perspectives Committee and was an active member of the National Association for Law Placement and the Career Advancement and Management Committee of the New York City Bar Association. She is past Co-Chair of the American Bar Association's Law Student, LLM, and New Lawyer Outreach Committee and past Vice-Chair of the ABA's Young Lawyer's Interest Network.
