Biography

Dominic Gutoman is a journalist based in Manila. He covers human rights violations, international human rights mechanisms, gender inclusion, children's welfare, and development aggression in the Philippines. Currently, he is the Community Manager of Bulatlat, an independent non-profit media organization and the authority in human rights reporting in the Philippines. He is handling its partnerships, reader engagement, and the integration of community engagement in news distribution, advocacy, and campaign programs. He is also the Chairperson of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines - Bulatlat chapter. Last year, he worked as a Consultant for Development Innovation Insider, a media organization operating across the Philippines, Myanmar, and China, scaling up initiatives of grassroots organizations through storytelling and content production. In 2023, he also provided services for the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines, mainstreaming human rights promotion in duty-bearing institutions and civil society. He also spearheaded the accreditation of the Human Rights Institute in the Professional Regulation Commission, integrating human rights courses in various professions for free.
