Biography

I have worked in and around the media industry (corporate and editorial) since 2008. I performed my 12-month internship during 2008 into 2009 in community media, with a short spell as the acting sports editor of the Eikestadnuus and Stellenbosch Gazette in Stellenbosch. Shortly after my internship, I worked for Sport24.co.za as a freelance translator, before gaining experience as a communications and project coordinator at Media24 in 2010. During my time there, I was responsible for first setting up, then running the social media branch of the now-defunct Media24 Innovations department (Media24 OPEN) as well as taking responsibility for the operational requirements of the department. During my contract, I briefly performed a dual role of communications officer for Media24 Corporate services. After the Innovations department at Media24 shut down, I completed a six-month contract at Soccer-Laduma as a staff reporter and web journalist, which ended in April 2011. I joined Sport24 again on a short-term contract in September 2011 as the morning content producer, which included online publishing and editing of content. At the beginning of 2012, I started working as a radio producer within Primedia Broadcasting for 567 Cape Talk Radio. I've produced various (mostly daytime) shows for 567 Cape Talk, but primarily fulfilled the role of Afternoon Producer for the Breakfast Show with Kieno Kammies. I rejoined Sport24 as the night content editor in 2013. I oversaw the website as well and managed its social media platforms for more than two years. Currently, I am at WP Media as the digital coordinator across all three titles (City Vision, People's Post and TygerBurger) as well as overseeing all the sports content across the 24 editions of People's Post and TygerBurger.
