Biography
As a young child in school, Elizabeth Blosfield was asked to answer a few 'about me' questions to help her classmates get to know her. One of the questions asked, "What are you passionate about?" Elizabeth wrote "words." Twenty years later, her answer would be the same. Although she knew she loved words, Elizabeth was unsure about pursuing a writing career until she found journalism. She spent three years as a senior editor at her high school newspaper and an entertainment reporter at its entertainment magazine. Upon graduating, she moved to Kent, Ohio, to pursue her love for writing and reporting in depth at Kent State University. At Kent State, Elizabeth worked as an assistant producer for Portage County's student-run television station, TV2, and a city reporter for the Kent Stater, a student-run print and online newspaper in Portage County. As her love for multimedia journalism grew, she became restless to learn as much as possible, which led her to Florence, Italy. In Florence, Elizabeth studied communications for four months while writing for the travel and lifestyle magazine Flo' on The Go. After returning, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in broadcast news and mass communication from KSU in December 2013. Elizabeth currently resides in New York City and serves as the East region editor of Insurance Journal, the most highly trafficked property and casualty insurance magazine in the world. She has a background in financial journalism, previously working for Risk.net as an energy and commodities reporter focusing on government regulation of the industry. Prior to that, she was a commercial property reporter for Real Estate Finance & Investment, where she covered global commercial real estate transaction news and market trends. She also previously interned for Salem Communications in Cleveland, Ohio, where she assisted with production and promotion for several radio stations, including 95.5 the Fish. She is a freelance journalist and creative writer as well, with work published in Thought Catalog, Buzzfeed Community, Bolde and Chicken Soup for the Soul. In addition to writing and broadcasting, she has been dancing for 18 years and has worked as an assistant dance instructor at Upstage Performing Arts Center in Massillon, Ohio. She would like to continue to combine her love for creative writing, multimedia and journalism in pursuit of a career.
