Biography
I'm a Chicago-native who recently relocated to Oklahoma City to work as a statehouse reporter for the Oklahoma Voice, a States Newsroom. Based in OKC, I cover health care, juvenile justice and higher education/career technical schools for the state. After graduating high school, I left the Chicago for Columbia, Missouri to pursue a Bachelor's in journalism at the University of Missouri. I worked for the local newspaper, The Columbia Missourian, focusing my work on the state government and courts beats and working with editors like Mark Horvit, Jeanne Abbott, Virginia Young and Fred Anklam. I covered the Missouri legislature for three sessions and worked as an assistant editor for the state government beat during that final session. I also covered the Boone County Circuit Court for the Missourian. During a semester studying journalism abroad in Barcelona, I worked for a documentary photojournalism nonprofit firm called RUIDO Photo. During my time at RUIDO, I focused on Spanish/Catalan to English translation work, improving social media strategy and networking with international publications. I have participated in a journalism bootcamp with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, or CSIS, as part of a multimedia project on trends of democratic backsliding around the world. The project focused specifically on Colombia and the importance of civic spaces in maintaining and expanding democracies. I have also completed an IRE data journalism bootcamp where I learned the basics of data journalism and visualization. I spent a summer at The American Prospect as an editorial intern where I worked on various reporting projects, posted on social media for the magazine and aided in fact-checking their print edition.

Oklahoma Voice
Oklahoma Voice provides original, objective reporting examining the intersection of policy, impact and power. We deliver unflinching, nonpartisan coverage of how Oklahomans are affected by the decisions made in our state capital and beyond. A nonprofit, independent news outlet, our content will always be free. Our name is a nod to the state's robust history of oral storytelling and our mission to elevate the voices of Oklahomans too often sidelined by the political process.
