Biography

Fran Jurga specializes in reporting on horse health and lameness problems, with a keen interest in all equestrian sports culture and the outdoors. She is founder of Hoofcare Publishing and manages its many print, media, and continuing education projects related to the study of the horse's foot and equine lameness. Two of Fran's specialty projects are The Jurga Report, an award-winning news and commentary site on horse health and equestrian culture hosted since 2006 by The Equine Network for EQUUS Magazine, (https://equusmagazine.com/tag/blog) and her own Fran Jurga's Hoof Blog, at http://www.hoofblog.com. Fran looked west to Hollywood when she was chosen to pen "War Horse News", an international fan site for the Steven Spielberg film War Horse and the equine history curiosity spawned by the film, book and Broadway play. When international adventure called, Fran developed two popular news sites for the Equine Network on Olympic equestrian events, an FEI World Equestrian Games blog, and a special tour blog for the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. Along the way, Fran has provided freelance or project-based services to many of the leading animal health and equestrian sport product companies in North America. Custom publishing, digital (online) magazines and brochures, blogs and websites, ad copy, social media management and photo research are just a few of the projects she has provided to large and small companies. Fran's work is not limited to horses. She has worked extensively in architectural and institutional development of zoos, aquariums, natural history museums, and visitor centers throughout the world. If you've been to an aquarium and seen the writing on the wall, chances are that Fran Jurga conceived of and composed it--and found the images and media! Fran is the author of the award-winning reference book "Understanding the Equine Foot", as well as the popular "Farmers Market Cookbook" and "Best Country Inns of New England". She has worked as a ghostwriter, editor and publicist in the book publishing field and facilitated television and film productions. Even though creative publishing and new media assignments fill Fran's days, she always has time for a brainstorming session with you. Call or email Fran to talk about how she can craft the best messages about you or your products and transform them into print, post them on the web, or condense them into a Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram post.
