Biography
I currently work as a freelance print and multimedia journalist for both local and national publications, including LWC Studios, Block Club Chicago, Timeout, Chicago Reader, WBEZ, Reasons to Be Cheerful, and South Side Weekly. I write about anything and everything Chicago, urban development, policing, local business, social justice and more. I am most interested in writing about cities, migration, energy, sustainability and climate. From 2022-23, I served as an English Teaching Assistant for the Fulbright U.S Student Program. I worked at Corporacion Universitaria Americana, in Barranquilla, Colombia, the biggest city on the country's Caribbean coast. I hosted daily conversation clubs for all levels of English learner and assist with the development of the bilingual education program at Corporación Universitaria Americana. I also conducted intercultural and digital journalism workshops, primarily in Spanish. I graduated manga cum laude from DePaul University in 2021 with degrees in Journalism and Geography. I served as the Editor-in-Chief of the nationally-recognized 14 East magazine, where I managed an ambitious and team of reporters, photographers, event planners and social media coordinators. Previously, I served as the Community Engagement Editor and an Associate Editor at 14 East. I led a variety of long-term reporting projects, engagement events and development workshops. I am trained in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, and frequently use spatial analysis and visualization tools like QGis, ArcGIS, Flourish, MapBox and others in my reporting.
