Biography

Based in Karachi, Pakistan, I have been working as a fact-checker at Pakistan's only local International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) signatory and Meta's third-party fact-checkers, SOCH Fact Check, since January 2022, investigating misinformation and disinformation. I served as communications impact fellow at Salzburg Global Seminar in 2022 in Austria. Prior to this, I worked as a digital journalist for ARY News and Samaa Digital in Pakistan. I am also a freelance contributor for the Pioneers Post UK reporting on social enterprises in Pakistan. My work has appeared in Dawn, Lok Sujag, Digital Rights Monitor, The Friday Times, Daily Star and Digital Rights Foundation. My areas of interest include mis/disinformation, technology, environment, human rights issues and social entrepreneurship. I hold an M.A. in multimedia journalism from the University of Kent, UK as well as an NCTJ Diploma and a B.A. in media science from SZABIST, Karachi. I have had the opportunity to participate in Future News Worldwide'19 and DICE Young Storymakers Programme'19, both helmed by the British Council.
