Biography
I'm a Media Correspondent at Reuters, focusing on how technology is transforming the media and entertainment industries. I write a mix of spot news, enterprise and analysis stories. As part of my beat, I cover how families are impacted by media and technology, through topics such as U.S. parents’ reaction to rules in China that limit screen time for teenagers and children, and whether the proliferation of streaming services has led to too much children’s programming. I was previously a Senior Editor on Reuters' Commentary team, where I assigned, edited and wrote analysis pieces on topics such as the effect of family separation on the brain, the default labeling of military spouses as “dependents,” the role prenatal health plays in obesity, and the case for paternal leave I edited veteran writers including Bethany McLean and Pulitzer Prize-winners David Rohde and Tim Weiner. Before joining Reuters, I spent seven years as a senior writer at Forbes, where I wrote magazine and web stories and a blog about the intersection of business and social issues, with a focus on public health. Through my freelance work – for the Washington Post, New York Times, the Atlantic online, New Yorker online and others – I’ve dug into stories that focus on people, often in underrepresented communities. I’ve reported on child labor; a neglected, yet life-threatening disease in South America; “feticide” charges against a suicidal pregnant woman; and mental health issues among female veterans – among other stories. I've reported from six countries, including Pakistan, India and Greece. I graduated from Princeton University with a BA in English.
