Ime Ekpo is a freelance writer in the pursuit of journalism covering topics including hip-hop culture, African diaspora history, and Black enterprise. In 2014, Ekpo started a niche-based blog hosted on Tumblr, Old School Hip-Hop Lust, which became one of the platform's highest-ranked classic hip-hop blogs. This led to a contributing writer position at the now-defunct hip-hop website Street Khemistry, where Ekpo covered class acts of the genre. In 2017, Ekpo became a contributor writer to The Source Magazine, an authoritative publication and landmark of hip-hop culture. Ekpo broke the news about the modern happenings of classic hip-hop artists, interviewed notables including Method Man, Ashanti, and Big Daddy Kane, and wrote profile pieces about relevant cultural figures, including the Black Panther Party. Ekpo is the founder of the online publication Rich Black Earth, where she highlights victories throughout the African diaspora.
