Biography

I've done it all from poetry to PR, but lately my focus has been on New England history particularly telling hundreds, no thousands of stories about the seacoast region of New Hampshire and Maine. My focus lately is on history books, 20 to date, including the mystery novel LUCY'S VOICE, a hardcover history of NEW CASTLE, NH, a graphic history for kids called PORTSMOUTH TIME MACHINE (with illustrator Robert Squier), and my game changing new nonfiction history 1623: PILGRIMS, PIPE DREAMS, POLITICS & THE FOUNDING OF NEW HAMPSHIRE. Other books include award-winning illustrated hardcovers about Wentworth by the Sea Hotel, Strawbery Banke Museum, the 1812 replica Privateer Lynx, the Music Hall, juvenile biographies of Jesse James and Lord Baltimore, plus a critically acclaimed true crime investigation of the 1873 Smuttynose ax murders at the Isles of Shoals just off the coast of Maine. I lecture on history topics for the NH Humanities Council. There are currently four more books and countless articles in the hopper--including a lively study of the Betty and Barney Hill UFO "abduction" and an illustrated history of the building of the Bunker Hill Monument. A new regional history website is under construction and I'm always interested in new project and freelance work. My book imprint is Harbortown Press. I live in a house I can't afford in historic Portsmouth, NH by the swirling Piscataqua River, one of the fastest tides around. I can see Maine out my kitchen window when the leaves fall.
