James Porteous started writing music and concert reviews when he was 14-years-old. In time, he moved on to work in a public library in Toronto and then shifted to television He worked as an archivist at CBC Toronto for 10 years and then as a digital librarian and archivist for Al Jazeera English, first in Washington, DC and then in Doha, Qatar. He has continued to write throughout, doing fiction, magazine articles, and blogs. The latter tend to centre on 'news and views you can use,' along with editorials and articles on news items that tend to fly below the radar.
