Biography

My first book, a biography of Alfalfa Switzer from Our Gang, is now available from BearManor Media. I write about workplace issues. I’ve also covered safety, sustainability and productivity issues, and have written about workforce-related matters in a blog called "Whatever Works." I've also hosted a video segment called "The Wacky World of Work." I have won multiple awards for editorial excellence. Most recently, the publication I started at Sphera, called Spark, won the Best New Print Publication award from the Content Marketing Institute and Best Digital Publication from PR Newswire. I've also won Headline Writer of the Year for Non-Newspapers from the American Copy Editors Society in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018. I also oversaw Workforce magazine's 90th anniversary content, which was recognized as a finalist for a prestigious Neal award. Earlier in my career, I won a Bronze Award from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors for a special supplement I supervised at Modern Healthcare magazine marking the 20th anniversary of the publication's Up & Comers program.
