Biography
Journalism is more than just a profession to me, it's my life and my identity. I am currently a freelance multimedia journalist in between Austin, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii area looking for news outlets to work with nationally and internationally. My career in TV news in 2010. Since then I have worked in Arizona, New York, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas and currently in Hawaii. I have primarily worked as a multimedia journalist and my passion is in depth storytelling, special projects, investigative reporting. Areas I specialize in are social justice and environmental and housing issues. I also have experience anchoring, producing, hosting as a on-air/live TV personality, and digital content creation. Most recently, I produced social media videos for PADI and covered local nonprofits aiding indigenous tribes in Brasil. Some of my most notable stories include: Continuing coverage on housing insecurities in Black and Brown neighborhoods; transgender families forced to move out of their home states because of gender-affirming care laws; environmental racism causing cancer in minority communities living near industrial facilities; an under-cover investigation into the illegal ivory trade in South Florida; a look at Florida's failure to protect eroding beaches; a special segment on LGBTQ housing discrimination and homelessness; a deep dive into discrepancies in prescription drug pricing; an in-depth piece on poverty within Native American reservations; and a series of stories uncovering the Veteran's Association's failure to provide medical care to cancer patients. Most of my stories I researched, produced, shot, wrote, edited, reported and helped design/execute the digital and social media elements. I have a lot of experience with social media storytelling and content creation and I believe it is an essential part of the news process. While I love working with a photographer and editors, I really do love having creative control over every aspect of my work. In my free time, I snorkel, scuba dive, swim, hike, bike, boat, kayak, paddle board - really anything outdoors! I try and make time to do beach cleanups, and volunteer for non-profit events in my community as much as possible. I am obsessed with traveling. I enjoy photography, shooting travel videos, playing the ukulele, dancing, and like a true millennial, my guilty pleasure is social media.
