Biography

A motivated, versatile, and level-headed journalism student seeking a position in the news industry. Whilst studying journalism at De Montfort University I have picked up valuable skills and attributes that aid my development as a journalist including shorthand and a good knowledge of interviewing. I have a good understanding of some useful software including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, and all Microsoft Office applications. During my first year, I was able to seek out news stories and write them up helping to build my confidence as a working journalist. I developed strong team-working skills while working on group projects during my time studying media at Brooke Weston Academy. During my time at university, I have thrown myself at every opportunity to get my work published. As part of my course, we were required to source, write, and publish our own stories on a weekly basis. As part of this, we also looked at search engine optimisation an area that I took a keen interest in. While studying, I took on a role as a sportswriter at VAVEL. This gave me valuable experience in reporting on the World Cup and the Premier League, writing more than 30 articles in a four-month period. In my second year of university, I took on the role of editor for a group magazine project. This was something I thoroughly enjoyed, and it helped to develop my InDesign skills, something I really enjoy doing.
