Biography

I am an independent medical investigative journalist and former Knight Science Journalism fellow. My book, The Danger Within Us: America's Untested, Unregulated Medical Device Industry and One Man's Battle to Survive It, will be published by Little, Brown December 12, 2017. I have been a regular contributor to the international medical journal, The BMJ, and my articles, reviews, and commentary have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, The New Republic, Discover, Slate, Washington Monthly, The Scientist, The (London) Independent, USA Today, Newsweek Japan, Mother Jones, and many other outlets. I am interested in legal corruption, not individual wrong-doing but the sort of structural, cultural practices that undermine the public well-being.
