Biography

Jeffrey K. Howard is film critic, journalist and Las Vegas native. Mr. Howard started small…deep within the murky bowels of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ communications department. There, while pursuing dual degrees in Film and Communications, he began his career as movie critic on “The Movie Show”, a half-hour Siskel and Ebert-type TV show. The program became the #1 rated show on the University Network, a consortium of 150 college stations around the U.S. and Europe. After graduation, he formed his production company, Civilized Society Productions, the parent company for The Movie Guys, a Generation X movie review team with fellow critic, David Neil, which produced the Emmy Award winning weekly television program, “The Movie Guys Presents” for KVVU Fox 5 and it's newscast. The Movie Guys ran from 1997 thru 2004, ending the successful run with over five hundred television episodes and hundreds of radio appearances. Mr. Howard went solo and re-branded as The Vegas Film Critic with his weekly television show on KCLV-TV, for the past decade. Mr. Howard appears weekly on the KKLZ morning show with Mike & Carla for Beasley Broadcasting, The Alan Stock Show for AM840 KXNT, AM570 KILF with Ernie Brown, Trending Today USA Radio Network and VOA radio network with Lori Lundin. Jeffrey K. Howard has provided print film reviews for The Las Vegas Weekly, The Las Vegas Sun (the only film critic in the newspaper's sixty year history) and television packages for the NBC, ABC, CBS, CW and FOX affiliates networks in Las Vegas and WSB (ABC) in Atlanta. Mr. Howard is the Founder and President of The Las Vegas Film Critics Society, a non-profit, progressive organization dedicated to the advancement and preservation of film and is composed of selected print, television, radio and internet film critics in the Las Vegas and Reno area. The LVFCS presents its "Sierra" awards each year for the best in film, including The William Holden Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a member in good standing with The Broadcast Film Critics Association, NATAS and Society of Professional Journalists.
