Jennifer Burger (MJ) is a full-time journalism lecturer and faculty adviser to The Runner, the student news organization at California State University, Bakersfield. Her service to students has earned her the Lecturer of the Year award at CSUB for 2022-23. Additionally, Mrs. Burger is herself a freelance journalist and worked as an editor and reporter for newspapers and websites throughout California for 14 years. Her many volunteering activities include serving on the board of the California College Media Association with fellow faculty advisers from around the state. Jennifer Burger earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from CSU Sacramento in 1998 and a Master of Journalism from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in 2003.
