Biography
When I was a brand new writer, my plan was to launch a career with degrees in Journalism and Russian. Then I found out that the best stories – and the ones with the most impact -- are in business, tech, higher education, leadership, and economics. When I put my focus there, I found myself researching, interviewing, and writing about some of the most influential leaders in the world, like Steve Rasmussen, the CEO of Nationwide Insurance, Nobel Prize laureates such as Daniel Kahneman, military legends like Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, world-changing scientists such as Vincent Cerf, and many, many others. I’ve been lucky enough to write and develop content about, and sometimes for, all of them. It turns out that my talent isn’t for reporting from Moscow, it’s for absorbing mountains of complex information and data, then explaining it in understandable, compelling content. Readership has been incredible. But relentlessly curious, I got interested in entrepreneurship, agility, management, politics, and a host of other topics. I started writing books, including Teach With Your Strengths, Leadership in the New Normal: a Short Course, and Strengths-Based Parenting, and wrote or edited five of the top 25 bestsellers on the New York Times’ business list. Along the way I got involved in learning design and non-profit leadership, and became interested in DE&I research, metrics, and implementation. I even started publishing fiction. By now, I can only guess where my curiosity and readers’ interests will take me. Actually, you know what’s interesting right now? Business compliance. And the human behavior implications of AI amaze me. I might even find myself in Россия after all. In any case, I’ll see something interesting wherever I go, that you need to know, and that you’ll love reading about. I always do.
