Joanna Chiu is a Beijing-based correspondent covering China, Mongolia and Hong Kong for Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) international news wire. She also contributes to publications including The Economist, The Atlantic, Al Jazeera America , The Associated Press, The Daily Beast, GlobalPost and The Nation. Previously, in Hong Kong, she worked as a staff reporter at the South China Morning Post and as a stringer for The Economist and The Associated Press.
