Biography

John R. Beyer is currently writing a weekly travel column (1500 words and photographs) for USA Today Network. In 2020, one of his columns won s prestigious CNPA award. His pieces are about traveling with a humorous spin on them. Also, he has four novels published under his belt, and has written award winning fictional short stories in both the adult and young adult categories. John has also written and produced a forty-five minute western musical, as well currently acting/directing a period western film written by him. Though, before writing full time, he spent nearly ten years in law enforcement in Southern California as a street cop, a training officer and a member of the elite SWAT team. After leaving the force, he continued in public service entering the field of education. While in both worlds he earned a Doctorate in School Administration and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. With his spouse (with a Doctorate in brain research) has delivered numerous speeches and seminars at various locations around the United States in reference to childhood education. During all those years, he never gave up the passion for writing – both fiction and nonfiction. John is on the constant move of stretching both non-fiction and fiction to the limits in his writing. With his varied background experiences, he is always looking for new avenues to share his story telling abilities. He lives in both Arizona and Southern California thinking, writing and re-writing.
