John Hood began his writing career in the Downtown New York Scene at 'zines such as AVANT and Red Tape, then with a column (Book 'em) at Paper. During that time he also served as Senior Editor at Reflex and McDermott & McGough's The Cottage, as well as contributor to Details, High Times and Crime Beat. Back in hometown Miami, Hood covered music at Miami New Times and served as Senior editor at South Beach fashion and nightlife magazine Season and Ultra co-founder Alex Omes' EDM pioneering D'Vox. A brief blip back in NYC found him correspondent at what was then MTV Online. In Miami again, he columned and contributed at Miami New Times, 944, Map Magazine, Closer and Sun Post Weekly, where he also contributed the weekly cover story. Hood also corresponded for The Miami Herald, The Guardian and The Herald (Glasgow), as well as Huffington Post, Paste, Polo, Yerevan, Culture Designers, Too Much Love, Beached Miami and others.
