Biography
Jonathan Crossfield's business card describes him as a storyteller because there wasn't enough space to fit in freelance writer, editor, content marketer, journalist, copywriter, blogger, interviewer, consultant and speaker. Somehow, Jonathan has won awards for his articles on digital marketing, but they were so long ago it seems boastful to keep mentioning them in bios. After a few years writing articles, blog posts and web copy in the marketing departments of two Australian tech companies, Jonathan finally went freelance in 2012. (The coffee and the view is better, while the morning commute is a dream.) Since then, Jonathan has worked on projects for some of Australia's biggest brands, including Telstra and Australia Post, and has also written articles and content for American Express, Robert Half Recruitment, Officeworks, Sinch, QBE Insurance and Nanosonics. In 2016, Jonathan inherited the post of editorial director and head writer of Telstra's Smarter Business content hub for two years, helping to steer the site and its content through a major relaunch. Currently, Jonathan writes articles for Sked Social, as well as a regular column on content writing and creativity for CCO magazine, published by the Content Marketing Institute. Jonathan's favourite projects are the interviews, and he revels in drawing out the most interesting stories and opinions in conversation. Jonathan lives in the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia, still trying to perfect the art of writing about himself in the third person.
