Biography
Jonathan Woods is the photo and interactive senior editor for TIME. In his first two years, Woods has led two groundbreaking exclusives that have been milestones for TIME’s coverage. Through a collaboration with Google, Woods published an interactive 30-year time-lapse video of the earth from space. Exploring global effects of urbanization, climate change and natural resources, the 11-month project was viewed by more than 3 million people. This project created the largest video in the world to date. Most recently, Woods photographed the only 360-degree panorama from the top of 1 World Trade Center, the tallest building in the western hemisphere. His idea for the image was a springboard for a TIME cover story, feature film and microsite around the redevelopment of lower Manhattan following the devastating terrorist attacks of 9/11. When he’s not climbing skyscrapers, Woods leads a team of six editors who distill 25,000 photos a day into the daily visual report you see on TIME.com. Prior to joining TIME, Woods spent three years with NBCnews.com as a multimedia producer and six as a photojournalist for newspapers ranging from The Gazette to Denver’s Rocky Mountain News.
