Asian Journal
The Asian Journal is a minority-owned, award-winning weekly serving the growing Filipino American community in San Diego County, California. The reasons why the Asian Journal is the paper of choice for many Filipino Americans vary. However, as journalists, we can only vouch for the quality of our content and our balanced news coverage as important to our mission. Our columnists include local Filipino American residents who are experts in their fields and are respected community leaders. Our coverage of the 2007 San Diego Wildfires has been featured in New America Media, a national ethnic media syndicate, and other news sites. The Asian Journal also writes about the immigrant experience of living in two cultures, stories relevant to Filipino residents and other multi-ethnic residents of San Diego County. Asian Journal was established in San Diego in 1987. It was founded by publisher Simeon G. Silverio, Jr., a respected journalist, author, entrepreneur and alumnus of the University of the Philippines in Diliman. The Asian Journal is certified with the State of California as a minority-owned small business enterprise. It is a separate entity from the Los Angeles-based corporation of the same name which is doing business as Asian Journal Publications, Inc.
